is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization dedicated to developing affordable housing for low to moderate income families. Our mission is to create a supply of housing for purchase and rental within the State of California by acquiring and developing vacant land and/or rehabilitating multi unit and single family properties. By doing so we benefit the individuals and families who would otherwise not have the opportunity to live in affordable, decent, safe and sanitary housing. In addition, we employ local workers in the process thereby improving the economy and the overall conditions of our neighborhoods as well. The WIN Project is dedicated primarily to the promotion of the general welfare and economic development of low and moderate income groups with special focus on the population of families falling within 30% to 60% of median incomes. Those in this group realize that the cost of housing can be a family's single largest expense. Many families spend over 50% of their wages on housing and are forced to move if they incur rent increases. Research has shown that such unstable living conditions can be devastating to the children as well as the parents experiencing this kind of housing crisis. The WIN Project Applauds President Obama for the selection of Shaun Donovan to lead the U.S. Department of Housing and urban development. On January 26, 2009, Shaun Donovan was sworn in as the 15th United States Secretary for Housing and Urban Development. He has devoted his career to ensuring access to safe, decent, and affordable housing nationwide, and will carry on that effort in the Obama Administration. Secretary Donovan believes that America's homes are the foundation for family, safe neighborhoods, good schools, and solid businesses, and that housing represents and confers stability - a base from which to raise America's children. He brings the commitment to make quality housing possible for every American. The WIN project looks forward to working with HUD and local jurisdictions to supply affordable housing for families. We believe that we will help turn the housing market around. "Yes We Can" put the community back to work and supply affordable, safe, sanitary, and energy efficient homes.
